Hi everyone!  Let’s face it – Homeschool moms are some of the WORST at Self-Care!  We take care of everyone else around us, full speed ahead, and are constantly leaving our own nurturing and nourishment as the last think on our list.  How many times do we fall into bed never having done that one thing for our own growth and encouragement?  If I am honest with you – most of the time would be my answer.

As a single homeschooling mom, I don’t have a great deal of extra time so I have been on the hunt for different things that are edifying, encouraging, and that I can walk away feeling refreshed and maybe even learn something new.  In my searching I stumbled upon Deven Vasko of Mom’s Saturday School!

Deven is a veteran Homeschooling Mama who has a heart for encouraging and supporting Homeschool Moms and their families. I had the opportunity to talk with her while writing this article and can attest to her passion and love for encouraging us Mamas!

My passion is for supporting all mothers in all their wonderful stages of motherhood & homeschooling. Mothers are our first teachers. You are vitally important to your home.

She created Mom’s Saturday School in an endeavor to find a way to reach the busy homeschool moms (and dad’s) and offer tangible ways of supporting us all in our homeschooling endeavors.

According to Deven,

Moms Saturday School was birthed out of concern for homeschooling mothers.

Two years ago, I was asked to sit on a homeschooling 101 panel. As I sat there, I began to realize how many of the mothers were not new to homeschooling. They had come to have their questions answered. I was concerned so many felt alone in their journey. It broke my heart.

In the fall of that year, we began by meeting monthly at a local church. I asked local veteran homeschooling mothers to come in, teach & answer questions.

From the beginning, I was asked to record the workshops. This was the answer to that request.

It is my desire to keep cost low & content high! Workshop leaders are always veterans & experts in their subjects. Some are local. Some are nationwide.

What is Mom’s Saturday School?

I have had the privilege of sitting in on several of the Mom’s Saturday Schools over the past year and have found them helpful and encouraging!  I also find the video format easier to attend.  A couple of the meetings I had to catch after recording, but Deven has always been very helpful and accommodating when I have questions regarding the topic discussed and has helped me get the answers I need.

If you are looking for encouragement, ideas or support, then you may want to check out some of her upcoming classes.  Some are $5.00 and others are FREE!  This is truly a ministry for Deven and she wants to make the support accessible to everyone who desires it. There is literally something for everyone and she is very open to suggestions on other topics you would like or need to have discussed.
