Beautiful Feet History

Beautifully meshing literature together with each historical period making history come alive.

Our family used Beautiful Feet for the study of the Ancient World and also the Medieval World. We adapted for some of the children at the junior high level and others at the high school level. It worked very well for us. We liked the literature selections very much, even enjoyed reading parts for Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar while studying Rome. Genevieve Foster Books are used as an anchor book for many of the historical periods covered by the Beautiful Feet Guides.

The Author of the Beautiful Feet History Through Literature Guides, Rea Berg

Beautiful Feet Medieval History Guide

Rea Berg who has her Masters in Children’s Literature, was first inspired  by the book, For the Children’s Sake written by Susan Schaeffer Macaulay , to pursue a “living books” approach to education when she began home schooling  in the mid 1980’s. Macaulay’s work inspired Rea’s creation of our History Through Literature Study Guides, which combine a biblical worldview with a solid literature approach. Charlotte Mason‘s books also confirmed that creating a love of learning within an academically stimulating and challenging environment could best be achieved by reading a rich selection of well-chosen classic and historical literature for children. Rea includes many books from the Golden Era of children’s historical literature, from the 1930s through the 1960s. Such notable authors as Ingri and Edgar Parin d’Aulaire, James Daugherty, Olivia Coolidge, Genevieve Foster, Esther Forbes, Elizabeth George Speare, Holling Clancy Holling, Alice Dalgliesh, Marguerite De Angeli, among many others wrote award-winning books noted for their literary quality and artistic beauty.

Beautiful Feet Books now provides guides and educational products to home educators all over the globe and The History Through Literature Study Guides  have received  recognition such as: Mary Pride’s Practical Homeschooling Reader Awards for categories in History, Geography, and Literature, Cathy Duffy’s Top 100 Picks, and The Old School House magazine.
