Since high school graduation requirements typically require phys ed credit, it is good to have options like the new Physical Fitness course offered by Alpha Omega in their Switched on Schoolhouse CD-Rom curriculum.

I know some young people who are so active in sports and exercise that high school credit is easily gained through all the hours of team sports that they participate in. Other homeschooled high schoolers pursue an activity of choice like running, karate, weight living, tennis, biking or whatever, that can also be counted toward high school physical education credit. But maybe you have a son or daughter that chooses a more sedentary lifestyle and doesn’t participate in sports very much. It can be hard to scrape up enough activity to count for the credits that they need to graduate.

Switched on Schoolhouse Physical EducationA very good option might be this new Switched on Schoolhouse PE course. Even if you don’t use SOS as a complete curriculum for all subjects, you can use it for a “filler” course like this for PE. A nice thing about the SOS courses is that you have the complete course on CD-Rom for your next child when he or she is ready. Onlike Monarch which is subscription and online based, Switched on Schoolhouse is yours to use again and again for any and all of your children in homeschool. I like that.

This is what I am hearing about the SOS Physical Fitness course:
It is a “one semester elective that can help your high schooler discover the benefits of healthy living.

” Some of the special features that are used:

  • basic nutrition
  • the importance of flexibility
  • cardiovascular health
  • muscle and strength training
  • realistic goal setting

There are daily fitness exercises and an activity log. The course includes quizzes, tests, and completion notification
The retail for this one course is $51.95 , but you can get 10% off right now making it $46.76.
